What’s your favourite season?

I’m very much a person who is influenced by colour. Blue skies lift my mood, brightly coloured decor and clothing is a big hit too. But the colours sent by mother nature leave me awestruck. Spring and Autumn are my favourite seasons. The colours are so vivid and bright, reminding us that their is life all around us. I just love Spring photoshoots too. The blossom makes a wonderful backdrop along with daffodils and of course the wonderful Bluebells.

This year I took Bluebell sessions by request only. You see mother nature is a wondrous thing but she also catches us off guard and many a photographer have fallen foul to heavy rain and wind, on the day they have their bluebell mini’s scheduled. This relaxed approach worked well for all of us, allowing flexibility and the chance to also shoot in golden hour, just before the sun set.

Here are just a few of my Bluebell Images from this year’s photoshoots.

Protecting our Bluebells

These beautiful flowers grow in the wild, in hedgerows and woodland. If you’re lucky, like me, you may also have them growing in your garden. They generally repopulate and spread each year, however, if trampled this can hamper their ability to regrow and flower the following year. Should you wish to visit a bluebell wood, please do consider ways in which you can help protect these beautiful flowers

  • Stick to the natural pathways found between the plants
  • Never pick wild bluebells or any other wild flowers (I took some from my garden for these sessions)
  • Should you need to walk amongst the bluebells, look for gaps and avoid standing on the plants

Bluebells generally appear from early to mid April and they’re around for 2-3 weeks. There are some stunning protected woodlands which are open to the public for a fee, within the Sussex area. Wakehurst (Kew / National Trust) is a great day our for all the family with disabled access and refreshments. Arlington Bluebell Walk is also very popular, you can sign up for their alerts via their Facebook page. Angmering Park Estate is also a lovely location, situated close to Arundel.
